Etching tutorial

Don't you love the etched monogrammed glass bottles in this goody basket?
Me too!
Want to learn how to make them?
Me too!
Do you feel like I'm totally stalking this blogger and her lemonade party this week?
Me too!

Okay, here's the gist...
Cut out a shape on heavy weight cardstock with your whole punch.
(I'm pretty excited because I already own the scalloped whole punch she used)
You're actually going to use the leftover frame and not what you punched out.
Secure it to your glass with adhesive.
Add a sticker to the inside.
She used felt stickers because they were reusable.
Using a paint brush, dab on the etching cream as directed on the bottle.

Play around with different shapes and designs until you achieve your desired look.

What a fun idea!

And for a more personal update...
I had my 36 week ultrasound a few days ago and learned the first important lesson in parenthood...BabyGirl does what she wants.
She's breech.
And Big.
We've scheduled a c-section for the end of the month.
So NOT my first choice, but all a part of God's plan for us. He knew this was best and I'm not fighting it or being sad over missing out on the whole birthing a baby thing.
After all, I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' no babies.
(name that movie Ashley B.)
My mom, on the other hand, had three kids, all of which were very late. We're talking like over two weeks late because back in the day they had no repect for the mama and her trauma. My dad told her it was because we forgot to read the baby books to see how and when to be born.
I'm pretty sure BabyGirl read What to Expect and then decided she'd be different.
I also like to think that she just decided to snuggle up closer to my heart.
She didn't want her pretty little face to get all squished or have her momma break a sweat. This way we both get to sit back and relax while the paid professionals do all the dirty work.
Smart girl.
If any of y'all have any c-section advice, don't hesitate to share it. If you think its too gorry just send me an email. I can take it!

have to try this! So cool! Miss Priss was breach too...she was butt down with her feet in her was painful for her and her momma. HAHA. As my Doc put it she came out the sunroof. Hope all is good, I have missed you! xoxo

  2. YAY! So glad you're back! I'm happy to hear Miss Priss was breech and obviously turned out just perfect. I've been "researching" on the internet and just found some sites that linked breech to neuro-muscular problems. Ahh, of course now thats all I can think about. Her head is wedged up under my right rib cage. not sure where her feet are. I'm still doing great, starting to get nervous though!

I didn't have time to research it too much cause it all happened so fast, they didn't realize that she was in that position until like 3 days before I due date so the next morning I was at the hospital. She had to wear 2 diapers at a time for about a week because her little hips were kinda smushed together and the extra diaper helped seperate them a little, but she have never had any problems even with all the dance, cheering and gymnastics she does. She has been in that position for a while and the nurses had a hard time measuring her at first because she would lay with her feet up to her face and when they would push them down they would go right back up. But that only lasted about an hour or so.

So glad your feeling good! xoxo

  4. haha! I've heard you're supposed to swaddle them with their feet up if thats how they were positioned. I'm not sure where her feet are, we do another ultrasound next week to confirm and I'll be sure to ask.

  5. I love your commentary about the etched bottles - ("me too!!") haha It cracked me up!!
SOOO exciting you're getting so close to having baby girl! It feels like it was so long ago that I was right where you are... but it wasn't Mr. baby'll be 2 mos on Tuesday. (wow)
C section advice.. well I didn't have any time to prepare b/c mine wasn't planned BUT it's really not terrible at all. Maybe not what you'd "thought" was gonna happen but hey, me either. I'm gonna email you now :)
