Mission Organization

Mission Organization:
Baby Rooms
I love these three storage options featured at Pottery Barn Kids. They feature a mix of open and and hidden storage with some pretty baskets thrown in to keep things organized.

These fabulous finds are a must have for anyone who's OCD, ADD or just plain AFFF (addicted to fantastic frivolous finds).

You can buy these closet organizers here in sets of five for $12.00. They come with stickers for age range, day of the week or clothing style. They also have cute little hangers, baskets, diaper organizers and gifts, etc.
I think I might need these for my closet too!

Splurge v. Steal

Can someone please help me find a way to make these blocks?

Pretty please.

Because they retail here for $120.00.

Seriously? For blocks?
Thankfully, I headed straight to Etsy and found these adorable blocks for a much more Recessionista-minded price.

The listing here says you get six blocks with 2-3 letters and a design on each block, but even with 3 letters per each at six blocks that doesn't equal all the letters of the alphabet.

I'm a bit confused.

I know I have horrible math skills but it still didn't add up. Right?

I'm pretty seriously interested in these pretties but I'm afraid I'd have to order several sets to actually spell BabyGirl's name or something else fun!

So I might be back to square one in needing to make these myself.

Little Green Notebook

Pretty Bedroom

I was browsing through this great blog, Little Green Notebook, and found a bedroom she designed for her parents that I absolutely love.
Our bed looks really similar to this one and I'd been thinking about painting it black for some time. Matthew really wants to use grey on the walls and I like that this shows that grey doesn't have to feel cold or boring. The pops of yellow and turquoise really bring warmth and life to the space. And I love the geometric pattern on the curtain panels.
Read more about how she transformed her parents bedroom from old and predictable to stylish and updated here.

Pretty Bathrooms

My goal for this weekend is to clean and organize my master bathroom. It's the one room I've neglected even more than my master bedroom. Seriously, I have done absolutely no decorating in there, short of hanging one 8x12 framed print, and I'm feeling the need to spruce it up. Or at least clean it up a bit. Maybe after I clean it really well, with my mr. clean magic eraser of course, it will magically resemble one of these beautiful bathrooms.

What do you have going on in your master bathrooms?
Bright colors, nuetrals, patterns?
Have you devoted any time to making it pretty or does all your energy seem to go into just keeping it clean and the counters make-up free?

Bedroom Design

My mind is elsewhere today. Like daydreaming about a boat ride with my husband, dog and a giant cooler full of coronas with lime. Since only one of those is unattainable on this gorgeous day, I feel completely legitimate in letting my mind be lazy! So here's some pretty bedroom inspiration to make up for my lack of witty commentary!
You know you love it.

I think my favorites are the cool blues and tans. Oh and the starburst mirrors of course. I can't wait to have one. One day...

Preppy babies

So I've been eyeing the cute little stuffed animals and children's art at baby boutiques for years. I think I may have even given a few out as shower gifts in the past. Well, the time has come for me to make my first purchase and I'm at a loss. My favorite little green froggie girl in the pink gingham smocked dress is no longer around. Seriously sad over this. I did manage to find the website of these precious preppy finds and can assure you there is plenty of loveliness to be found. They have animals, art, blankets, rugs, stationery and even Christmas stockings. Although, of course all the cute girl stockings are sold out for the season. Anyone want to help me navigate ebay for this one?

These are just too cute for words. I'm pretty sure Baby Girl Ryan needs this last little plaque.

Just stay

A nurse was working on the cardiac floor when one of her dying patients sent her out to find his son. He proudly whispered through his tubes that his son was in the army and here to see him. As she went out of the room, she bumped into a serviceman standing anxiously out in the hallway. "Come with me she said." And he followed. Heavily sedated because of a heart attack the old man dimly opened his eyes and saw the young uniformed serviceman standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand and the soldier wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp hands squeezing a message of love and encouragement.

The nurse brought a chair so the soldier could sit next to the bed. All through the night the young soldier sat there in the poorly lit room holding the old man's hands and offering words of love and strength. The nurse came in several times and suggested the soldier stop and rest awhile. He refused. He was oblivious to the time or the sounds of the hospital. He continued to say kind words although the old man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.

Toward dawn, the old man died. The soldier released the now lifeless hand and went to find the nurse. She began to offer words of sympathy but the soldier stopped her. "Who was that man?" he asked. The nurse looked confused and said, "your father." "No, he wasn't. I've never seen him before in my life" replied the soldier. "I knew right away there had been a mistake. But I also knew that this man needed his son and his son just wasn't here. When I realized he was too sick to the know the difference, I decided to stay". "I came here tonight to find a Mr. William Grey. His son was killed in Iraq today and I was sent to inform him." "What was this gentleman's name again?", he asked the nurse.

Her eyes filled with tears, "Mr. William Grey" she replied.

We are spiritual beings going through a temporary human experience.

Thanks so much Myra for sharing this touching story.

I know it's not what I typically blog about but I just had to share it. My brother is Army Ranger currently serving in Afghanistan so this story has even more impact in my life. I know my brother is the kind of soldier in this story, compassionate and self-less.

We love you Jamie!!!

Entryway Rugs

Rugs by Company C

So my sister is currently trying to convince her husband to let her keep this fabulous new rug! Let's help her plead her case with our full support of this colorful beauty! She brought it home on loan from Clay and Cotton and placed it in her front hallway. What a fun first introduction to her home!
She also wants to get the lobster rug, (One in a Million) in a smaller size for her basement. It would also be super cute in a boys room or a bathroom.
Loves it!
I don't even have a rug in my entryway. We have a doormat on the outside but nada on the inside. We really need something in an 8x11 but I'm afraid to commit to anything I've found because we'll also need a runner that will match. This website could be trouble. And I know eventually we'll do runner on the stairs which will also need to coordinate.
And like always, my taste far exceeds my budget on this matter.
What do y'all have for rugs in your entryway? Official doormat styles, persians or other fun prints? Large or small?
Well I'm off to celebrate my FIRST WEDDING ANNIVERSARY this weekend!
I hope your weekend is a wonderful as mine should be!

Green Design

Since I can't enjoy a green beer like I usually do to honor St. Patty's Day, I thought I'd share some lovely green design!

Well, maybe just one green beer wouldn't hurt...
