"Coming through your front door should be like running into your ex-boyfriend. And he's fat."
-Jonathan Adler
FABULOUS quote I just spied on an equally fabulous new blog, Pinot After Playdates.
And since I'm blogging from afar with no access to pictures or my own datebase of fun things (see previous post) I thought I could at least entertain you with other's humor!

April 28, 2010

So I was totally slutting around on the Internet looking at an insane number of nursery ideas with about twenty tabs all going at the same time when my poor little innocent laptop got slapped with an STD. That's right, we caught a virus. It made my entire computer freeze and lots of adult websites kept popping up with fake virus blockers. Thankfully I knew enough not to touch anything and my husband knew enough to fix it. Apparently, we trapped three little nasties now being held securely in the vault. My husband says my computer is healed, but, to be honest I'm a little traumatized and am really nervous to turn it back on.
So please bare with me for my lack of posting this week.

Nursery Closet Design

My fabulous husband did not disappoint with this closet overhaul!

I can't wait to continue to fill up her closet with more sweet little smocked dresses and tiny pink onesies!
Here's a sneak peak at BabyGirl's lovely crib

Penny Lane

Remember this precious nursery from last week? Well, I'm back with a quick little tour of rest of the house.

I love her use of creams and blues throughout the cape style home. It creates such a cozy and cohesive space. And what a cute street name!
I'll be back later with some "detail" shots so you can use some of her decorating ideas!

Savannah Weekend

Bags are packed. Girlfriends waiting in the car for fabulous roadtrip.
And we're off.

My friend's Facebook status from yesterday pretty much sums it up:

Jill B.: You know the weekend is gonna be crazy if you have Spanx and champagne on your packing list....

I'm off to Savannah for a weekend full of shopping, lunching, and baby showering with my favorites.
Hope y'all have a good weekend as well!

Crib Crashers Part II

Fisher's Crib
My friend Jen created a precious and preppy little boys nursery using cool blues and greens with a striped feature wall that really pops. She and our friend Emily, who was also pregnant at the time, painted those adorable green and white stripes themselves. I have very impressive friends. A few details you can't see are the beadboard ceilings and close-ups of the custom fish art framed all over the room. Maybe I can sneak in there and snag a few more pics for you!
Fisher will be three next month and I can't wait to see how Jen transitions this space into a big boy room. No doubt it will be post worthy!
Stop by Monday as we crash Jen's whole house.

Nursery Update

Here's a little sneak peak of the progress my husband has been making in BabyGirl's room while I've been busy lounging around making BabyGirl.

He installed paneling on the lower 2/3 off the walls in the same pattern used downstairs. Our living room, dining room and den were paneled on the bottom 1/2, FYI.

One of these days I'll get him on here for a tutorial because I have no idea how he does it. I'm his beer (and water) bitch. That's my contribution.

Next, the entire room was primed with 2 coats of Kilz Primer. Then the ceiling got its first coat of pink paint. We used the leftover paint from our 1/2 bath renovation I talked about here.

This second picture here really doesn't do it justice, but there's currently no real lighting in the room and its dark outside. Oh well, you get the point.

Next up, one more coat of primer, several coats of Designer White all over the walls and another coat of pink on the ceiling. We won't be stopping there of course. I've already convinced him to tear out the broken closet doors and dismantle the built-ins and rebuild something more useful and prettier. He's begun priming that space as well so it will be ready for reno this weekend.

Apparently the whole space will be finished up while I'm vacationing with my girlfriends, aka the Auntorage, in Savannah this weekend.

Oh and he cleaned my bathroom Sunday night while I laid in bed and watched.
Jealous? Sorry ladies, he taken. For life.

Here's my inspiration board for those of you who've forgotten. I've already strayed just a bit from this board, but not much. I decided against the curtains from Land of Nod in favor of some custom window treatments with the same green and white color palette. Also, I opted for a dresser rather than a desk for one reason, the dresser was free and the desk was not. I'm going to paint my childhood dresser white to keep with the scheme.

And just for fun, I'll repost the before pictures.

Please note, these were taken before we moved in. That's not my clutter or my dolls in the rocking chair.

For reals.

The Bourbon Trail

Makers Mark

I joined the boys on a tour of the Maker's Mark distillery while visiting my sister and her family in Kentucky over Easter. The company is situated on a beautiful hilltop estate that is still family owned and operated.

I'm not usually of fan of anything resembling orange or peach design.
But these rooms demonstrate just how elegant and modern this hue can be especially when paired with cool blues and greens.

Preppy Napkin Love

Several weeks ago I won a fabulous giveaway hosted by Jennifer at the Preppy Napkin.
I just wanted to give y'all an update and show off just how fantastic this napkin holder looks in my kitchen!
She also has an online store, To Bee Named, full of awesome goodies perfect for hostess gifts or upcoming Mother's Day!
Definitely go check it out!

On another note...
We're headed to Charleston this afternoon to pick up Mabry!!! And if all goes well with our SweetBoy, we'll be hanging out in Pawleys Creek this weekend catching some sunshine and fish with good friends at the flounder tournament.

Cabana Style

Now that the weather has taken a permanent turn for the better, I'm inspired by all things outdoors. But seeing as how I'm much more of an inside girl, I look for ways to bring the outdoors in. You know, the pretty Air Conditioned and bug free zones.
These cabana inspired window treatments and bright punchy colors do just the trick!
I seriously love everything about this room. Especially the lime green heringbone pillow.

I really love this shape for the cornices we're making in BabyGirl's room.

It would also be a pretty option in the guest bathroom and fairly simple to make.

Spanx swimsuits

This one shoulder baby is by far my favorite!

I just wish my budget allowed for me to buy every one!

Here's a more upclose view of this adorable bubble skirt in hot pink!

They even have Spanx for Men. Not that you need it baby...
