Bedroom Inspiration Board

April 27, 2011

Thanks for all the support during my pity party earlier this week.
We're all doing much better now!
*******
I thought I'd share the inspiration board I've put together for my new master bedroom.
I wanted to bring my coastal chic style to the city.
I'm not a fan of the "beachy" look and lord knows in our area that can be overdone but there is something smart about a coastal inspired palate.
We've already got one coat of Cathedral Gray on the walls and I can tell the dark color is definitely going to take some getting used to.
I've already painted my old dresser with tidewater blue paint and distressed it with briwax in dark walnut to look just the dresser below.
I love the results.
My project for this weekend is to reupholster the headboard from our guest room.
Pictures to come!

  2. well of course I love it, but you already knew I would! By the way, I have TWO fabulous benches recovered in that crosshatch, and I LOVE that fabric- one is in the middle of my closet and one is huge and heavy and holds toys up in the bonus room. I think your dresser is going to look amazeballs and I am dying to see your headboard you little diy maven....my hubs says I am less DIY and more DIFM. Its funny, 'cause its true. But you probably already knew that too. WIsh I was there to put it all together WITH you, with our other friend Pinot too of course. xoxo

  3. I've got a very similar vibe going in our master, greys, Greek Key, sunburst morror. Love it. I went even darker on the walls and don't regret it.

  5. Who makes the paint that you used for your dresser? I have never painted furniture before but you have inspired me to reuse some ugly pieces I already own!! Thanks!

  6. I'm loving your inspiration here, the colors are great. I actually just had some pillows made with that same cross section fabric and am going for a similar look in our master. hope you'll share the progress. ps, i'm catching up on all my blog reading and just wanted to wish you all the best with your move and hope things are going better for you than earlier this week; we've all had those types of days and it can only go up from here!!

  7. Ooooh, I like! The color scheme is great, especially because it's not too masculine or too feminine, and I agree "beachy" can sometimes be kind of tacky!
