So it's week two of the color my world challenge and this week we're supposed to add some decor to our homes in the color of our choice.
Remember, I picked black.
Well, I flopped on my challenge.
It was Easter and I was busy.
I ran out of time to go shopping for black accessories and had no plan to make anything so I just shopped my storage closet. I brought out several items that hadn't found a home yet in our new house.
I'm liking it.
I really love how grounded the black is making my space feel.
It's acting as an anchor, like I'd hoped.

I especially love the black pottery barn frames and the black lamp shade.
These are changes I plan to keep longterm.
Not sure how that zebra pillow is working out.
What do y'all think?
Added any doses of a color to a space to see how it changed it?
Also, don't forget to check out the other participants
I'll be back next Tuesday with some badass painting with black!

Digging the touches of black! Definitely need to use that zebra somewhere.
ReplyDeleteLook at you! What a rebel. Love this space!
ReplyDeleteI love a touch of black in any room. You hit the nail on the head with that black lampshade. What a fun challenge!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how drastic small changes can make a room. I love it. Especially the meeting and queen pic!
ReplyDeleteI love the definition black brings to a space. It looks great in contrast to your soft walls! I love how you mix a room up Julia- you have the magic touch.
ReplyDeleteOkay onto a non-black related question: those prints over your couch? Love!! Did you paint them? I need a little abstract punch of color around my house and adore those! (I'm feeling inspired for the paint part of this challenge!)
Wow! That is crazy how adding those bits of black completely changed the look in there. I LOVE IT. You should definitely keep some zebra (of course I'm a little partial), especially on the wingback - it looks amazing :)
ReplyDeleteNeato! It's like adding a punctuation mark. Very grounding. Looking good!
ReplyDeleteI think you can add touches of black to any space. It really looks great. My room isn't going to be touches though...it's going to be drama (for better or worse).
ReplyDeleteI love the simple touches of black. That is how my bedroom is. xo
ReplyDeletelook at you all fancy with your own color my world black graphic! i love that! and i personally LOVE the zebra pillows in there! i love the contradiction of the pillows on the chairs.

ReplyDeleteLove the small touches! Amazing how a little bit of black gives so much more depth to the space!
ReplyDeleteYeah Yeah Yeah the black looks great. But can I PLEASE have your pink chair?????
ReplyDeleteYou definitely did NOT flop! I love the black. I love the zebra pillows (but maybe not on the floral chair?) and I love the lampshade. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love your little additions of black, especially the lamp shade. I have a ton of black in my house I never tire of it!
ReplyDeleteLoving the addition of black...it's always a good room anchor. Did you paint the pink pieces in the gold frames? They are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo glad we weren't the only ones doing a little home shopping! The black really does anchor the space, I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love the two ceramic pieces, and the black lampshade vignette behind the chair. I think black adds so much to a space.
ReplyDeleteI really like the addition of black here! Those black and white inlay boxes are beautiful!! Where are they from?
ReplyDeleteLove the added touches of black! The living room especially looks wonderful :)

ReplyDeleteI think you picked a great color. I love the pops it gives the room.
ReplyDeleteI personally love the zebra on the couch, it looks great and ties in the frames. The lamp is fab looking too! You rocked this without even trying!
ReplyDeleteYep....a little black in every room! I am digging the zebra pillow on the wing chair. Sweet.
ReplyDeleteGreat touches and I love that you used what you had on hand! That is the best way to show how to add a new color with out breaking the budget!
ReplyDeleteThe balck and zebra adds chic to your already beautiful rooms!
