Black Skinny Jeans

September 24, 2012

It's official.  I need a pair of black skinnies.  Like yesterday.  No, really.  Now that it's officially fall this new staple must enter my wardrobe asap.  They're going to replace the leggings look I got away with the last few years because I was pregnant.  I need to step it up a notch.

One of my dear friends in Pawleys used to laugh that every time she pulled in to the parking lot at the mall her sweet toddler boy would shout, "look!  Mommy's hunt club".  Well, let me tell you sweet little Fisher, this mommy is on the hunt.
And lucky for you little ducks, I will be sharing my finds.  Much like my pink jeans adventures because the criteria are the same.  I typically love citizens of humanity or seven for all mankind for all my denim needs.  I also have Paige and J Brand that I like but don't love.  And I have heard amazing things about Rag and Bone which I might try out for dark blue denim skinnies if I could ever figure out where to go find them.  But those aren't going to work for the black jeans that will probably only last me a season with the amount of wear they'll get.

Here's the list

1.  High-waisted enough to avoid post double c-section over thirty unavoidable muffin top
2.  Enough stretch to glide over my thighs and allow for toddler and crawler manueverability
3.  Enough sturdy denim to smooth out my thighs and ass.  No lumps can show through due to high levels of spandex
4.  Under $100.  I don't really want to and just can't justify spending normal prices ($200ish) for something that will spend 99% of it's time on the floor in my living room or at a playground.
5.  Make me look like a long lean stylish Victoria Beckham lookalike while toting my babes around.

I'll be taking suggestions along the way, so who wants to help a sister out?

  3. I recommend Marshalls! They have an abundance of Paige jeans there.. I recently purchased two denim pairs and a maroon pair. It may be highly possible they have black, too! (hmmm I should go look for myself! haha)

  11. I have a pair that I picked up at gap that have zippers on the inside. I love them! They hold their shape great. And look fabulous with booties because you can unzip just an inch or two. I think these are them: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=78107&vid=1&pid=243695&scid=243695022 Good luck! Cant wait to see what you find, I can never have too many black skinnies. I lived in them last year.

  14. They may not be your traditional designer but I also own 3 pairs of the Old Navy ROCKSTAR skinnies in various colors. I suggest sizing up a size or 2 but I absolutely love what they do for me.

  15. I got a pair from Gap last year and wore the heck out of them. They were super comfy with a bit of stretch in them so they were very forgiving. Worked great tucked in boots or with flats. And they were toddler proof! If they come back again this year I'll be getting another pair!

  16. i got some at target, along with some forest green ones. i did NOT wanna pay for black jeans, somehow I feel like they are just too taboo. but i needed some. and i Love the fit.. so it works :)

  17. No help here but after reading the comments, I might have to check out the old navy rockstar ones!

  18. Such a great look! I got some at Jacob several years ago because I saw a cute pic of MaryKate Olsen in them. There weren't many choices then so mine are a bit baggy and have gone pretty unworn. Still, might have to break them out this fall!
    Good luck with the hunt!

  19. Blank NYC denim spray in skinny jeans. I love my coated black pair more than any of my expensive jeans. Comfy, stretchy, flattering and under $100. Over thirty mom of 2 little kids approved! They carry them at shopbop and seem to run pretty true to size.

  26. I found some J. Brand ones that I am drooling over. They have holes in the knees and I'm obsessed. I just had some of my leather (bootcut) leather pants tailored into skinnies...I need to go pick them up actually. Thanks for the reminder!! Love this post! xoo

  28. I bought a pair at Loft last year and they are SUPER cute. And cheap too!

  29. I found some at Forever 21...it was really lucky because it can be hard to find things in there but I love them and then were less than $20.

  30. My friend recommended Tarjay and I have to say I love them!! Who knew? They don't get that baggy thing above the knee after wearing and they fit nicely in the thigh.

  31. I just tried on Citizens black legging jeans and they were amazing!! They were $158 at my Nordstrom but I think they are totally worth it. They made my thighs look thin and my butt look small- which is a must for me in jeans b/c I carry most of my weight in my thighs and butt! I have a Gap pair from last yr that were only $59 but after an hour of wearing them they stretch out and look awful.

  32. Are you sure you can find all that in a jean? Hell, I want it to make me coffee in the morning, too.

  33. Best for the body is 7 "The Skinny", Rag and Bone, and J Brand. Best for the wallet is Gap 1969's (go down a size because they stretch like crazy!). Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love love love Loft's Curvy Skinny jean. They are higher waisted, reasonable and don't stretch out (but have a ton of stretch in them). Best part is they come in petite, so I don't have to hem them!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I am loving my Henry and Belle jeans this season- not too bad around $130. Lots of stretch and they suck you in! I am newly preggo so I will take all of that I can {hopefully I can make them work several more weeks!} Everyone I know that tries them loves them, they are amazing!

  36. Oh girl, I will be anxiously following your search! My black skinnies are from F21 and, as I just discovered, a size too big. :( Apparently I'm not in my 20's anymore. Who knew????

  37. Oh my goodness, I love my skinnies! I really like my Gap black 1969 side zippered skinnies. They fit nicely and have just the right amount of stretch. Target also has some for a great price that are a nice length, with a perfect amount of stretch. They don't loose their shape after I play on the floor or at the park with my kids. I couldn't pass them up for $22! Old Navy sweatheart skinnies are great too. I found them a little harder to find in the store (compared to the Rockstar).

  38. I am such a fan - they look great with a plain black pump or with a ballet flat. Can't wait to see yours....

  39. Target does have great skinnies, and the J Brand's with the high gloss that make them look almost leather are amaze....sometimes they can be found on Ebay.

Earlier though, I saw these on another blogand minus the zipper detail I am absolutely in love: http://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/us/en/zara-us-W2012/269187/827424/COATED%20TROUSERS%20WITH%20ZIPS

Zara has had its A game in recent seasons!

  40. Old Navy! I too, have 3 pairs of the black ones. The rockstar ones are on sale for $19 right now so who cares if you ruin them. I teach pre-k and have a 6 month old and I live in them!

  41. Try the Gap Really Skinny Pants -- they come in ankle length (29") regular (32") and long (34"), have all the stretch and structure you asked for and are $59.50.
