Mantel Style

 Mantel Style
Do y'all get stumped on mantel styling like I do?  It seems like I'm always teetering between sparse and cluttered and it's hard to get it just right.  I'm loving the look of this one I found on pinterest and I thought you might too.  I especially love those ceramic birds and thought y'all might recognize the ones below from Target's new cottage collection.  Truth be told, most of the items are great in the end cap but look a little lacking in your house.  But not those birds.  Think what a small dab of rub n buff could do to those pretties.
Random fact:  I used to be TERRIFIED of birds.  Like real scared.  I had a bad incident at waterfront park between my take-out and a pack of bird thugs.  I lost.  So my college girls might all find this newfound bird obsession a bit hard to believe.  But do believe.  Birds are in at my house friends.
What about you, birds are no?

  2. One time a duck bit my hand at a park while I was feeding it so now I am terrified of ducks. I do however love decorating with birds - hence all the birds prints in our dining room. Love the two white birds and I am slightly jealous you have a mantel. Always wanted one and a fireplce. Maybe our next house!

  3. Love decorating with birds, have them all over the house! Along with shells, nests, eggs, you know all the lowcountry stuff! I need those birds from Target, adding those to my Tarjay list today since it's usually a daily trip! How was your IKEA trip?

  4. Ha! Bird thugs. I stink at decorating our mantle. It's looked the same for 2 years. Ugh.

  6. Very pretty. I like decorating with them but find the live ones a bit frightening at times. Years ago, I was walking through my neighborhood and I must have gotten too close to a tree with a nest. All of a sudden a bird swooped down at me and started chasing me. I went running down the street with my arms flailing in the air while screaming. It must have been quite the sight and I think it scarred me for life! I bought my kids a bird feeder a couple years ago and slowly I am getting more comfortable being around birds again!

  11. I am not afraid of birds but I think they are yucky so I shy away from them in decor. The Pinterest ones are kind of nice though.

  15. I love any bird that can't poop on me. I was swarmed in the mall parking lot last week, after i spilled my Auntie Annie's pretzel nuggets. Glad the fear is subsiding...how about the other one?
