We Bought A House!!!

Good morning friends!  If you follow me on instagram then you already know our exciting news.  We bought a house!  And we seriously couldn't be more thrilled about it.  The inside needs some updating, think 1970's bathrooms, but overall it's gorgeous and has great bones and I can't wait to get my hands on it.  It has a very traditional exterior and floor plan.  I know most of the country talks about wanting an open floor plan but that wasn't how our family lives.  This house has a great flow and every single room we need.  I'm not going to bombard y'all with photos this morning but I promise to give a full house tour soon.  Be sure to check out instagram for more in the minute updates and sneak peaks.

I feel like I need to give a very real disclosure before anyone comments about how excited they are to see what I do with this house.  This is the real world and we're using real money not fancy fake "blog money" so the updates and room makeovers will come when they can.  So don't be expecting any bathroom or kitchen renovations anytime soon.  We're talking years maybe.  We'll be working with what we have.  Plus paint.  Lots and lots of paint.  But I'm up for the challenge and excited about it.  I hope you're excited to follow along with us.  I have a feeling there will be a lot more house posts in the future.

I also want to thank you for being such a good sounding board for me these last few months.  At the start of 2013 my only wish for the year was sameness.  I wanted things to just stay settled for a while.  But that's not what life brought us.  Quite the opposite really.  But we've come out so much better for it.  God's plan was the best plan and I'm watching that unfold with a front row seat.  Y'all are getting a pretty close view as well right.  Buying this house has not been easy.  Buying any house is really challenging and emotionally fueled but this house in particular gave us a run for our money.  Up until the last minute we still weren't sure if we would close.  But we did.  And now she's all ours.  WHOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!

  5. Julia its so gorgeous! Can't wait to see what you do with it. And we are in the same boat about paint and lots of paint being our upgrade right now, and let me tell you, I don't feel like we moved into the same house! Such a difference :-)

  8. I was so hoping this was your good news Monday!!! Congratulations to you and your family, I know this has been a long, stressful haul. Here here for not liking "open floor plans"-they don't work for our young family either and I'm not a fan of of that wasted space, echoing, and being able to see everyone no matter which room they are in. Blog money, ha ha I love it, thank you for being real! You give me so much hope because we sold our house and are going into a teeny tiny apartment so we can "jump" on a house when it comes on the market, and I'm very emotional and stressed about it, having nothing to look forward to. But I'm like you, I want a place I can get make our own over the next 15 years til we get to Charleston :-) and I don't want something that someone's already "fully updated" because they are NEVER my taste (think dark cabinets, lots of khaki paint and tile, and super traditional finishings). I WANT the white cabinets no one in Atl wants :-) I can't wait to see more pics, exciting for us blog readers too!

  13. Im so happy for you and your family friend! It was meant to be and all your cards are falling into place. It is great news and wonderful fuel for your design cravings..you will have a blast and it will be great following along and seeing what you do. We are in the real world on my end, too, no real money, no unrealistic makeovers. Your kids are going to love growing up in that yard...way to go!

  16. Congratulations!! That is such exciting news and I am so happy for you. Also, there is a lot to be said for living in your home for a while before doing anything drastic. So, in addition to being better for your wallet, it will help the design too. Now, I wish you the best of luck packing with two little ones!

  20. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I love how you had to remind everyone that you bought the house with real money & not 'blog money.' That's hilarious, but so true! I cannot wait to see what you do to the inside. I'll stick with you for the next few years if you promise not to go anywhere... :) Again, congrats!

  22. It is amazing. I look forward to the tour and look forward to seeing how you make it your own (major renovations or not!). Also, I totally get the real money vs. blog money and that is a major part of the reason I love your blog! I can totally relate to your blog and get the whole "real money" and taking your time thing! That is the reality for most of us :)
