Entryway Inspiration

June 13, 2013

"Walking into your front door should be like running into your ex, and he's fat."
-Jonathan Adler

What's your entry like in your house?  Do you treat it like it's representing you and your whole house in just one tiny space?  Y'all know my entryway from our first house and the tiny entry nook I carved out in our second house.  Well our new house has a gorgeous *in progress* entryway just waiting to be brought to life.  The space is huge and bones are great.  I've got my eye on the images above.  I'm going to keep it neutral and spare with just a hit of pattern or texture.  We're definitely going more neutral in this house.  No matter how much I love patterns and color, I need somewhere calm for my eyes to rest against the chaos I see all day!

  1. I so wish we had an entryway our front door opens right into our den. Love these and I knew that one pic was your artwork:) I agree I like calm and neutral when you first walk in a house. I know you will do a killer job with the space!

  2. My entry is small but I love a grand space! These images are perfect. I loved all your previous ones and can't wai to see your things in the new space. I know the kids must be loving the yard! Hope it's not overwhelming.. You have plenty of time to make everything perfect.

  3. We have a small foyer but still a space. I am looking for a chair to go alongside our chest.

    Love those inspiration pictures!

  8. I have loved several of those foyers from P too, so fresh and calm. Been pinning several neutral foyers and rugs lately and found a great foyer piece from World Market bc the one in our former home is a bit too traditional so will serve another spot in our new home. I want clean, neutral, and soft this time around :-)

  12. Gahhhh!!!!!! I love these pics! I wish the small space that is the first impression didn't cost as much as a living room to outfit. Between rugs, furniture, lighting and millwork plus wallpaper ?! I keep putting that project off but it is finished in my head;))

  13. Loving each and every inspirational photo! I love a neutral cleansing palette in entries. It's like taking a deep breath in and then letting it all out. It just feels good :)
