Back to School: Girls Clothes

August 15, 2013

I'll tell you what, one of the most fun things about having a little girl is the clothes.  I take Wells' wardrobe building very seriously.  It's easy to get carried away when the clothes are so small and so colorful.  It's like playing dress up with no insecurity issues.  I know there will be a time soon when she won't me dress her.  But for now, I'm having a ball.  And my sweet girl starts school this year.  And I know we're going to need to update and upgrade her wardrobe.  Yes, she's three.  I get it.  She's going to color on these clothes and she's going to fall in the mulch in these clothes.  I don't care.  We don't have vinyl plastic on all our furniture at home, and I'm not going to dress my kids that way either.  I'm a big fan of quality over quantity, even for babies and toddlers.  Now, this list below is my dream.  I'm going to have to be careful and choosy about what I select.  Don't worry, we've got a real budget and not endless J.Crew fairy money.  But man, I sure wish we did.

  1. You are so lucky Wells still lets you dress her. Sterling is so opinionated and has to pick all his outfits himself- hence why he is always in tank tops:) Girl shopping is fun, love what you picked out! Great thing about Sterling is my parents buy most of his back to school stiff:)

  3. Oh so much fun, when my two oder girls were young I had so much fun and dressed them alike (they are horrified by this!) ... Then one day the little one announced she wanted her own look. That was the end of my reign in her closet! xo

  4. Cannot wait to have a girl of my own! I feel like little girl clothes are better that big girl clothes! My first niece is due in November, and I'm pretty sure I will get out of hand with the clothes buying for her!

  6. I would love to have that hooded coat for myself! Camille is so opinionated on the color and would only want that in pink! I bought her the cutest brown winter coat last year and she frowns every time she wears it!

  7. My 2nd grader's back to school wardrobe is mainly crew cuts and she loves them. I was lucky to score most items at 50% off during their sale a few weeks ago.

I seriously wish they made most of the style in adult sizes as well;)

  8. I would choose everyone of those things (especially the shoes) for my little girl. Love them! I will tell you from experience that the newer and cuter clothing is, the more likely that that item will come home with preschool paint on it.

  10. Love this! J. Crew fairy money sounds like the best thing ever. It's such a nice go-to spot for a 30-something stay at home Mom!

As if you don't have enough going on, I'm going to beg you pretty please to do a round-up for boys! My oldest turns 4 tomorrow, and my youngest turns 19 months tomorrow. Both boys! I do a blend of Boden 30%, J. Crew 30%, Gap 30%, and then Old Navy 10% (some of their pants/shorts are great basics), but I'm getting in kind of a rut I feel like.

I completely identify with what you said about dressing them without any insecurity issues! I wish I had the washboard abs that my 4 year old has!

  11. I just got those striped shoes for Amelia, they are so cute I wish they made them for grownups! You should check out mini Boden too - we always love their stuff.

  12. Okay, these clothes are just too cute. And if you continue to dress her in this, I can't see her not wanting you to dress her. Can I have a grown up size one of everything on that list? I think the crew cuts might be better than the regular J.Crew right now.
