Keurig, Nespresso, Tassimo, Verismo, Mr. Coffee. I'm confused.
I just want a good cup of coffee in the morning. Or three. Okay, but no more that four. So tell me, what kind of coffee situation do you have at home? Is it seriously more expensive to have one of these fancy one-cup at a time machines than a regular pot of coffee? Or is it just so much tastier that you don't even care?
By the way, it's my fifth wedding anniversary today. So double cheers to that! There will be lots of cake for breakfast and eating going around here all weekend!
I've also linked up to the Virginia Bloggers today thanks to my girl Alyson. I'm curious to check out the other blogs. There aren't very many local blogs that I read and I want to change that.

I really only like the non-fat chai from starbucks. but a previous boss got me hooked on diet mountain dew. GROSS. but no calories and regular as a old navy sale and it is like crack. but it is so bad for you so Max bought me a Keurig at Sams. Our model you fill the large water reservoir. Some don't have a reservoir and some hook up to a water line. the tray underneath for the k-cups is ugly, don't get that. so i get to buy fruity silly coffee like vanilla hooker bean slut muffin and then pour in my sugar free creamer and I can deal with it and not get a $4 starbucks everyday. And he loves green tea (i should too) and so he makes those. Our babysitters love it and in the winter we do hot apple cider with bourbon.
ReplyDeleteIt was our fifth yesterday! Happy anniversary! I have a Keurig (love it, just get a basic model), and a fancy cappuccino machine. I use both every morning and love them!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you too then sweet girl! xo
DeleteI'm officially jealous of your fancy cappuccino machine. That's what I really want ;)
Happy anniversary!! Hope you have plans to celebrate! I have a Mr. Coffee I only use when desperate. My coffee is usually made by Starbucks, Dean and Deluca, Caribou ;). My cousin has a Nespresso and swears it's amazing (we both love a latte though). I use my parents keurig elite regularly when we visit and one would definitely be a step up from my Mr. Coffee.
ReplyDeleteGet a French Press- for real girl--- You think it will take more time but it really doesn't and the coffee is the best. I have a Keurig at work and I am definitely not in love with it.
ReplyDeleteI am a big coffee person but I am not a huge fan of the Keurig. I personally don't like my coffee tongue meltingly hot. For me its about the type of coffee I use. Lately its Starbucks Sumatra or Pike Place.I just use a Delonghi drip maker and it works for me. A Nepresso machine would be my next choice but its not necessary for me everyday.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! We have the Starbucks Barista which they no longer make. We love it, but it's on its last legs, sadly. I won the Starbucks Verismo (single serve) and love coffee from it! I only use it when my husband travels though because pods are kind of pricey. As far as actual coffee, we buy a huge bag from Costco which is roasted by Starbucks and have for years. I think grinding our own beans makes the biggest difference. Let us know what you decide.
ReplyDeleteKeurig at work - that one hooks up to the water line and filters the water and you can choose your coffee cup size. It's the best. Our keurig at home is the smallest one and it hates me, so Brandon has to make it for me. I HIGHLY recommend not getting that one. It's a lot cheaper for a reason.
ReplyDeleteI always put my sugar and half & half in and then make a 10 oz cup. Good start to the day. We're lucky at work that we get to order whatever flavors we like, but I'm partial to the Starbucks Pike Place and the Caribou Morning Blend.
Happy anniversary!!!
Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteWe use, and love, a French press. So simple, and the coffee is really good. No cluttering up your counter with a big ugly machine, either. We've previously used both a Cuisinart drip machine and a Tassimo, both have been given to Goodwill.
We have a Cuisinart drip and a Nespresso machine. I love my milk frother :) We alternate between the two machines depending...if both of us are working from home, we make a big pot so we can have several cups each. I don't do more than two Nespresso pods a day because they aren't cheap and you have to order them, so I don't want to be without!
ReplyDeleteWe have a Keurig! It's definitely more expensive than a drip but what I love about it is there is no cleaning involved. It's super annoying to clean coffee makers IMO. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI have a Keurig at my office, and it is the worst but maybe I'm a coffee snob. It just tastes gross, and I hate all the packaging. Such a waste! We have an old school espresso maker for the stovetop at home and are planning to get a Gaggia semi-automatic espresso machine. Yes, that's for espresso/cappuccino/lattes, but I prefer that over multiple cups of coffee. Plus, I feel fancier, ha. It also has a hot water component for tea.
ReplyDeleteWe have a keurig and a jura espresso machine. The jura gets used waaay more than the keurig. I prefer my coffee iced but can't stand the taste of the iced k cups. I prefer the jura because I know how its going to taste, and i have flavoring syrups too. with k cups some are good and some make me gag.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! We have the keurig, bought at Costco. I love how quick and easy it is.
ReplyDeleteJust got this at my Bridal Shower, my mom swears it makes the best cup of coffee period
ReplyDeletehttp://www.crateandbarrel.com/aerobie-aeropress-coffee-and-espresso-maker/s653082 and not a bad price either :)
Happy Anniversary!
I found this... and tossed out my Keurig. I am partial to iced coffee though :)

We have a Keurig and boxed it up. I'm eyeing a Le Creuset french press. My best girlfriend has one and turned me on to it. The coffee tastes so fresh and I love the simplicity of the press.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! We have a Keurig and I hate it...cup-at-a-time coffee tastes like crap. It's convenient during the week, but on the weekends, a plain, old Gevalia freebie pot for us!
ReplyDeleteWe have a keurig at home and it has worked for me. My husband doesn't drink coffee so it's a waste to make a whole pot. I get the Starbucks caramel flavored K cups. I have the aerolatte milk frother too. I hear my milk, froth it, and pretend I'm having a skinny caramel latte from Starbucks!
ReplyDeleteMy parents have this really old school drop coffee maker but it grinds the beans for you and automatically starts the pot after the grinding is finished. Fresh ground coffee truly is the best!

ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! I so love my Nespresso Lattissima, but mostly because I prefer lattes. In fact, I'm having one right now :) If you love a latte, you will adore the Nespresso!
ReplyDeleteIf I was a straight coffee drinker, I would definitely get the Keurig. I like that there are loads of different coffees, teas, hot chocolates, etc. that you can buy for it, and that you can use K-cup pods or generic pods (I think). It's just so easy, there's little-to-no cleanup, and the variety is nice - can't make all those things with a regular coffee maker! Plus no grounds/mess.
Yay! Glad you linked up with Virginia Bloggers and Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteKeurig all the way! Will never ever use a traditional coffee maker again! We have the single cup Keurig because I wanted a small machine and like to fill my own water each time. It's fast, easy, and so so clean…I hate coffee grounds on a counter top or splattered around in a sink! With a Tervis mug and lid, of course!
ReplyDeleteKeurig! Happy Anni baby!
ReplyDeleteI love my keurig. I don't think it the tastiest, but so convenient. We have a monthly amazon shipment of the tea bag style pods (no plastic on the bottom). I put almond milk in my coffee so I can't really taste the difference. We also have a fancy espresso machine, a Rancilio, but it is too complicated for me - or maybe just too much work ;). I need my coffee stat!!
ReplyDeleteThe Mr. uses a Keurig...but I have a confession to make that I don't drink caffeine. I've never ever tried like normal coffee, I just have no interest. I will occasionally have a latte or a drink from Starbucks but it just isn't my thing! And oh Happy Anni!
ReplyDeleteKeurig, single cup. Love it. Only use bottled water. Happy Anniversary.
ReplyDeleteWe have a Keurig but I am hoping to splurge and get the Nepresso. Matt hates our Keurig and wishes we just had a regular pot one. I like it because since I am on my decaf kick now I can make one cup of that and he can make his caffeinated Happy Anni friend!!
ReplyDeleteWe have the Nespresso and we do love it! The pain is ordering the cups. We'll run out and I forget to buy them. I wish local stores would sell them. We also have a Breville with the option to make single cups or an entire pot. What can I say, we love our coffee!
ReplyDeleteWell, here we go....Tea Kettle....boil water....get cup....put Melita Individual coffee filter w/paper filter over cup....two coffee measures in filter....pour water, let drip into cup....add cream (that would be real cream) and sugar. Sip......Pure Heaven.....Good Morning Starshine!!!!! Oh HAPPY DAY.....♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteAh, coffee! My daily go-to is basic Keurig (literally their first home model, I think) with Starbucks Verona K-cup. It's not THE BEST coffee, but it does the trick and I only drink 2 cups and LOVE the easy clean up. If I didn't have to deal with perfectly coarsely ground coffee, clean up, boiling water, etc., I would definitely use my French press everyday. I also have a BrewStation drip coffee maker that I use when there is more than one coffee drinker around, and I like that too! Happy 5th Anniversary!!! You had a gorgeous day for it today. xxoo
ReplyDeleteWe have both the Keurig and a regular coffee pot. I use the Keurig during the week and drink a large cup of Starbucks coffee on my long commute to work, and during the weekends we use our regular coffee pot to save the pricey pods (for me) during the week. :) If you do go with the Keurig, or even the Starbucks Verismo, start hoarding your Bed Bath & Beyond coupons now! I never buy pods without one.
ReplyDeleteOh this is such an interesting topic! I don't do coffee at all except, at work, because I'm a nurse so I run on coffee. But we have both a keurig, regular coffee maker, and also the instant stuff. I am such a low maintenance person that I always go with nescafe instant + hot chocolate sachet + 3 thingies of half/half for a quickie "latte" at work! It works out great for me...and its delicious! Keurig's are awesome because of the different varieties but I always wonder about the upkeep because the K-cups are not cheap according to me...and of course I want variety with the K-cups...hehehe but Happy Anniversary! Hope you had a more than spectacular day...seriously my first time on your blog! hah

We have two coffee pots, because I am obsessed, and want it all. There, I said it. First we purchased a Capresso burr grind coffee maker. It makes an amazing, gourmet cup of coffee. However, I usually only drink caffeinated coffee and my husband usually only drinks decal, so this made it tough to make coffee each day and not over make either version. At work, we've had a Keurig for at least 10 years, and I really like the convenience and the variety it offers all of us. So, for our 7 year anniversary, I purchased a Keurig. It solves the caffeine vs non caffeine problem, and we still have the Capresso for parties. Best of all worlds.
ReplyDeleteNespresso Citiz or Pixie. Make sure to buy the Aeroccino milk frother as well... It has saved my Starbucks addiction... I have a nonfat vanilla latte every morning... Happily still in my pjs.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could drink coffee. I love it, but it kills my stomach. I drink green tea, although I'm hoping I can get myself back on black tea which is my favorite. Earl Gray with half a teaspoon of sugar and a little cream. #perfection.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that the French press is awesome but I am a slow coffee drinker and I always found the coffee to get cold so easily, but the taste was always great. We have a Nespresso and it's awesome. If you enjoy good coffee, then I think the Nespresso is definitely awesome - the taste hasn't compared to anything else that I've had at home. I actually bought ours used and it's still great and so compact too. Can't wait to hear what you decide.
ReplyDeleteGet a Nespresso, you will not regret it! I used to get Starbucks every damn morning (sometimes I still do) but my Nespresso is a money saver for sure. It tastes delish, they have new flavor capsules, and its small and compact for our tiny kitchen counter. Its pricey, but the customer service is AMAZING! These days customer service is tops on my list of good companies.
ReplyDeleteWe have a Keurig at work, and I hate it. The coffee tastes gross, like watered down yucko Maybe im just a coffee person :)
We have so many coffee making options…a built in Miele machine that only uses nespresso brand pods, two different nespresso machines, two cusinart whole bean drip coffee makers and french presses. Everyday the easiest and most used are the counter top Nespresso machines. They are a million percent worth the price. Even the less expensive models work just fine. Get the separate frother. The Bodrum french press is also a great option for delicious hot coffee. All you need is nice ground coffee and boiling water. It really does taste so good and it is seems like a treat every time :)
ReplyDeleteI love reading all the comments as I am a coffee lover as well. I was strongly set against the keurig until we were gifted one two years ago... now I love it. My only complaint is that ours doesn't make a large cup. We have a single serve with a refillable tank. I have had to clean it twice but easily followed instructions found online. This past Christmas we asked for an espresso machine and ended up with a verismo middle lane model. I am much less satisfied with it than the keurig and wish we had the nespresso for the quality of taste combined with the ease of the pods. With our verismo I have found that 1. the quality of the espresso is not drinkable unless as a latte and it still doesn't taste anywhere near as good as fresh ground espresso. 2. it is very loud but that might just be our model? If I had early morning cleaning mojo I would definitely go with a french press but I am usually making coffee before the sun comes up and the keurig is just too easy! Hope this helps and let us know what you pick and why!
ReplyDeleteI love this question/comments! We have a Keurig and I use daily for convenience but do not love it. To me the coffee tastes weak ( we use a strong blend in the refillable K-cup) There is a new controversy about the plastic in the KCup (not real surprising I guess). We also have a Cuisinart Grind and Brew: wonderful coffee but a bit more time consuming to make and wash. I hear that old school percolators and French Press make the best coffees. Older seems to always be better;)
