Playroom Design | Bright + Modern Preppy

June 17, 2015

I love playrooms!  I love corralling all of my kids bright colored plastic million-pieces toys into one spot for them to let loose and have fun.  I'm always trying to balance their need for setting up little train towns and princess villages with my need for a clean floor.  We are really lucky to have a bonafide play room to house their toys and creativity.  They each get a zone on the floor where they're allowed to leave their layouts set-up indefinitely.  Once the toys cross over into an explosion in the whole room it's time to clean it all up again.  This system seems to work really well and you can't see the disaster, I mean creative, zone from the rest of the house.  What do you to help keep it at bay?

We spend a lot of time in here so of course I like to dream up new ways to make it pretty!

  1. Perfect timing, pinned!

We are moving into a home that has a formal living room in the front that we just won't use. I wanted to put our dining room in there but that's been voted against by my Mom and my husband. So they want me to put the play room in the formal living room. Which is the first thing you see when you walk in the front door (cringe). I'm seriously stressed about how to make it look decent while still being functional for our son. This post helps, thank you!

    1. LOVE that idea! I've thought about doing that to our formal living room too. Our playroom is really only a three season room so everything gets moved back in for the winter anyway :)

  2. I was just debating that seaside artwork for above baby girl #2's crib, but couldn't decide if it was too grown up for a kids space. Obviously now I can see it works well with more playful elements. Thanks!
