Spring Break might be something I gave up in the very early part of the 2000's but a girl can still day dream right?
In fact, Matthew and I strategically planned our wedding so that our anniversary would fall in that dreary part of almost Spring perfect for yearly get-aways. Too bad I've been either pregnant, had a new baby, or about to buy a house for each of the past five Marches. So this year we get another free pass but next year is our five year anniversary and I plan do something awesome like lounging poolside looking pretty and sipping cocktails.
Who's with me? Do you get to take a yearly anniversary trip? Where was your favorite trip? Matthew and I went to Amelia Island for our honeymoon and it was incredible. I only wish my younger non-mortgage-paying non-baby-toting newlywed self had realized just how much relaxing goes on at that place and that it would be a while before I returned.
I also think this would be the perfect setting for a girls trip. Now who's with me?

I love Amelia Island. One of Matt's friends got married there and we stayed at the Ritz, so freaking nice! Sigh we are in the same boat and have not traveled for any of our wedding anniversaries. The Viceroy is high on my list though, mainly because Kelly Wearstler designed the interiors you know it is fab!
ReplyDeleteI just said yesterday that I need a vacation. At this point, a bath is about the best I can do, lol!
ReplyDeleteI would love to be wearing that adorable poolside outfit right now...just a bit further south of my house.
There are two lives "before kids" and "after kids". Before kids, we would do long extended weekend trips about three times a year. Now, after kids it gets so much harder.
ReplyDeleteDid I hear you say girls trip? I say lets do it mama!!!
ReplyDeleteIm in the life much after kids, and would love to go here in those clothes immediately. I love girls trips...lets go!

Yes to everything about that outfit...Like a modern Audrey Hepburn at the beach. So much love.
ReplyDeleteOur one year anniversary is next month and we are spending it in Jacksonville, NC/Charleston. My little bro is getting deployed to Afghanistan the same week as our anniversary. So, that means are return to Jamaica (our honeymoon spot) will have to take place another time. But, they say Charleston is the most romantic city in the south, so it should be a fun road trip.
ReplyDeleteLove reading your blog!
My husband and I went to the Maldives for our long overdue honeymoon and now we realize that we didn't relax half as much as we needed to! Don't get me wrong it was amazing but now with two kids living in the crazy city I totally would have slept on the beach for a few more hours and read two more books! When he graduates Captains school next March we are leaving the kids with family and taking a week off somewhere hot (wherever there is a great deal at the time!) and we cannot wait!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm there! That bathing suit is goorrrgeous too.
ReplyDeleteThat bathing suit. Perfection. You have me in a daydream right now... Ahhhh, to be on an island right now...
ReplyDeleteThat suit is to die for! And those wedges would go with everything. I'm 20 minutes away from Amelia and it is literally my favorite place on Earth. Glad you loved our little slice of heaven!
ReplyDeleteJulia! I stayed at that hotel last year! It was incredible. The detail is insane. I took pictures inside the bathrooms around the pool because the tile was so amazing. Seriously, you need to go there.
ReplyDeleteThat suit and those wedges! I have a girl's trip coming up in Charleston, and I need to start shopping for it! My favorite anniversary was our 5th...my husband travels internationally, and always has points, so we went to London and Paris...it was amazing. I still have to pinch myself. He will be getting back from a guy's golf trip on our anniversary this year, so I'm holding out for our 10th anniversary trip...Italy!
ReplyDeleteToo funny.. I am in the same boat. We have either been buying a new home (we've had 3 thanks to moves) or with a new baby. Next April is our 5 year and we are planning a trip SOMEWHERE with a pool, beach, and no baby! We go to Amelia every summer with my family... It is simply the best and I have every intention to retire there someday.
ReplyDeleteWith four grown kids we now need three rooms in a hotel to go on vacation. We try to go every other year to get us all together. Meanwhile, little weekend trips have to suffice and they are usually driving destinations. With this snow, I'd just as soon stay home!! xo
ReplyDeleteWe just got married this past June, but the week after our wedding is 4th of July (we didn't even think about it when we were planning), so now if we were ever to take a vacation, we'd get at least one "freebie" day since everyone gets the 4th off!
ReplyDeleteI'm down. Take me there now! Looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteLooks SO perfect for an anniversary trip! Love the outfit too, that TB tunic is perfection.
ReplyDeleteSign me up now! I need a relaxing beach getaway ASAP! I adore navy & white forever:)))
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the outfit you created! fab!
ReplyDeleteLove this look! I am working on a condo that is attached to the Viceroy in Miami...it makes me so jealous...they sure know how to do luxury hotels!
ReplyDeleteI'm leaving to visit my best friend in Orlando in 2 weeks and am thrilled! I always came home during spring break while I was in college, so now that I'm teaching and have spring break, I'm planning to take full advantage of it!
ReplyDeleteLove that TB tunic!
I need that TB tunic! Gorgeous! I'll take a week at that Ritz Carleton at Amelia Island, too... :)
ReplyDelete"Lounging poolside looking pretty and sipping cocktails" definitely it is the time. Got my eye on your next posts.
ReplyDeleteHa ha I wish I got an annual anniversary trip! BUT, my parents live in Amelia Island and we go just about every month, so even though it's now with 2 babies in tow, it still gets me out of Atl craziness and someday they'll be bigger and I will actually sit on a lounge chair again! We did get to Cape Cod this past Fall, and even though I was 30 weeks pg, it's an amazing place! The farthest we usually get is Chas or Amelia-this year's anniversary we're going to spend a night at the Ritz in Amelia!
ReplyDeleteI'm in. Name the date and place. I'll bring the tea and the home made checkmix
