hair

January 26, 2012

So it seems every fabulous blogger out in blog land attended and blogged about alt summit.
How do you even know about these things?
And it seems enough of these stylistas were rocking the messy bun that it called for it's own shout out.
The messy brunette bun, to be exact.
{thats my girl Amanda on the right}

Which I find so amazing because that is the exact hairdo I have pretty much worn 99% of the time for the past year and a half with the help of these.

Apparently piling my long dark hair on top of my head is en vogue.

Yet I'm seriously, like for real seriously, considering this

short and blonde

Most of y'all know I had an almost 8 year addiction to highlighting that I gave up cold turkey right after I got married.

Yup, my husband married a tall, thin, blonde and wound up with a pregnant brunette.
Good thing he loves me ;)

I'm thinking of forgoing the light color for maintenance reasons but I can't get this cut out of my head.
Thoughts?

  3. I really love the bun look, but my hair is just a frog's hair too short to get it to work really well. I am going to try those spin pins though and give it another shot!

I love the hair style you posted! I've always got highlights. My hair is so fine and flat that I need the added texture from the highlights. I think you could totally rock that new style!

  4. It depends. I've gone both ways. I love the short look because it takes just seconds to fix, but with long hair, you can just put baby powder in it (to get rid of the grease) pull it into a messy bun and go! Now you have me thinking short hair :)

  5. Lady if it doesn't make you blonder or thinner, what's the point?!

  8. That cut is way cute! As a platinum blonde, I may be a bit biased but I say.... GO BLONDE! :) I love the bun look. It is so cute! But... you couldn't do it with short hair anymore my dear. I say keep your hair long! :) You'll look great either way I am sure.

  9. That haircut is adorable! Love it…

I rock the bun ALL the time. Such an easy 1, 2, 3 way for a mom to look put together. :)

  10. I too used to have a highlighting addiction. I love not shelling out $150 every 2 months. My simple long brown hair is just so EASY. But every time spring rolls around I hear those blonde locks calling my name!

  13. I love the bun - but I've never been able to do it properly. It always falls out and looks messy - and I don't mean cute messy.

I read your post on Goody spin pins and went right out this afternoon and bought some. I'm rocking the cutest bun right now! Thanks for the tip! i had never heard of these.

  14. I'm getting my haircut in two weeks and am planning to go short again (I'm thinking just above the shoulders)..I LOVE LOVE LOVE the haircut you posted though and might try to add some funky layers for a similar but slightly longer look!

  15. Well, I'm brunette and I've got long hair, so I better jump on board and rock a bun!

Here's a question about the spin pins... Do they work on super thick hair? I usually can't do cute updos, because my hair is so thick and nothing keeps it up.
