front hall console

March 21, 2012

Seriously, are y'all so sick of my entryway.
Sorry.
It's just been a thorn in my side since we moved in.
And I  have no budget to fix it.
Literally.
So I'm making do with what I've got and figured some of y'all might be in the same boat and appreciate the evolution of a space not just a magical "ta-da" transformation.

Or maybe you just want more pictures of my adorable children.
Who can blame you.
They're precious.
Let's get a show of hands for putting the babes up first...
Great, now let's get back to the matter at hand.

ch ch ch changes

I decided to keep going s l o w l y  with the white paint.
I'm stopping at the drawers and thinking on it over night again.
This is a crap cheap table from Target from my first apartment post college so I'm pretty sure there is no sanding and re-staining in its future if I eff this up.
And like I said before, I can't go buy a new table so I've got to make this baby work!
I've got my knobs sprayed gold to make do until I can order the gold ring pulls I really want.
I decided to scrap the basket and boots entirely.
Remember, this space is an extension of our living room and not a true front hall so I'd love it to coordinate more with the rest of the space.
I think for Spring and summer we'll just need flip flops and the extra storage is unnecessary.

Okay, so what's your vote?
Stop at the two tone white on wood or go full on glossy white?

  2. I am seriously torn. I love the two tone alot. It really does look great. But I am thinking of a picture you pinned (that I promptly repinned) with a glossy white entryway table and a persian rug and it looked amazeballs. And can we discuss Tag in his cute Pixie Lily and Wells in her adorbs monogrammed outfit. Love it!

  4. I don't know, its different. I think the two tone stands out. I like that.

  5. I like the two tone, it provides contrast. I think that if it was painted all white, the table would blend into the corner.

  8. With not having a budget, I think you did a remarkable job. So creative! For some reason, it kind of reminds me of a campaign piece. The knobs make a world of difference. I like it, but being it's not an expensive piece of furniture, you can always change if you feel the desire.

  9. I love the way this two tone looks here, especially with the gold knobs. I'm usually a huge fan of all white, but I say stick with it like this! :)

  10. I prefer the all white but think the two tone does make it more of a focal point and is more unexpected.

  11. I like the two tone, I am thinking of doing a similar treatment to our dinning room table. Because like you we have no budget (we are getting married in June) but I still want to have our place look perfect before we start entertaining lots of guests this summer.

I LOVE the gold knobs, and you art work is to die for!

  12. I think I might like the two tone... with the dark rug and the light art, it works to balance the 2. But look at what i just posted, you might die. haha

And the precious babe pics, I can't get enough!!!!

  14. I have the same lamp in my entryway! I love it. It's so versatile. And your daughter's dress is just too cute for words!

  15. I love the knobs too. I love white furniture but the two tone is more interesting. Tag looks adorable and so big in his Pixie Lily - Henry had the two piece in that same print. LOVED it!

  16. Call me crazy but I'd like to see the table painted orange to go with your arwork. Leave the top & drawers white.

  17. I love the two tone! I think it looks great. Maybe a brightly colored lamp?

  18. Love, love, love the two-tone!! Live with it a while, you can always go all-white in a bit when you tire of this look. Like it A LOT!!!!!

....almost as much as the cute babe pics. Wink, wink.

  20. I love the two tone. And love those knobs. I am amidst the same entry-way (but part of the living room) dilemma myself, so it's interesting to see what you do. I'm really digging it.

  21. Oooooo... I was originally thinking the all white would look best, but after seeing the drawer fronts white - that looks pretty darn cool. Especially with the gold knobs. I'd live with it like this for a while and see how you feel. And the babes - they just couldn't be any sweeter :)

  24. Ahh so torn. I think the two tone looks awesome! But I do love a high gloss white piece of furniture. I think leave it for a while and see how yo feel in a week or so. I do like that it can be changed seasonally to play up the light or the dark. Hmmm....

  25. Stop right where you are. The two-tone looks amazing.

  26. Cannot decide...love the two toned look but also think the high gloss all over white would be stunning! I think I would live with the two toned look for a little bit and see how you like it and change it up if you decide it does not do it for you. Either one is a win-win in my opinion! Great look!

  27. I'm with Jamie & Vashti, live with it and you can always deside to paint it, but I'm loving the all white gloss for this space. I'm living with our bedroom dresser right now being navy and wood tone...I'm taking the dive this weekend to all navy!

  34. I say stick with the two-tone to create contrast between the console table and the white walls and lamp. It's gorgeous lady! And seriously, could your kids BE any cuter?!

  43. Oh, your children are so adorable! I think you can't lose with the two tone or all white... Pretty and Unique vs. pretty and classic; I think it's a win either way!

  44. Looks great so far! Is it possible to take a shot of the whole space? Its hard to tell with just a corner to look at.

    ReplyDelete

  46. I'm not sick of it, I love it! KEEP the two toned, its so different and original. And I love the painting... knocking it out of the ballpark, girl.
