Currently Obsessed: Front Porch

June 20, 2013

___________________________________________________________________
Confession:  I still haven't painted our front door coral yet.  It's on my to-do list I promise.  I've got a round up of some awesome front porches for you today.  I'm hoping they inspire me to take the plunge to spruce up our front porch this weekend.  What are your must have's for your front door?  Even if you don't have a porch you can recreate the looks above pretty for a fabulous first impression.  And the cost is significantly less than decorating the entry inside so that's a bonus.
Pop question: Do you fly a flag in front of your house?

  1. Perfecting my front porch is on my to do list! So far I have my pencil boxwoods in terracotta pots. Since we also have to confine to historical preservation district rules, I have to be careful with the rest of it.

  3. An actual front door is definitely on my future home must have list. Our current house was built in the 40s and a lot of them have that side-porch/main entrance thing. I need a real front door. When that happens, boxwoods will definitely be a must. I'm loving the clean look of the last picture you posted.

  5. We have more of a front "stoop", although I wish it was a porch, but yes! We always have a flag. It's a clemson flag during football season, but other than that it's an American flag. Love it.

  6. Loving all of those front porches! We have one of those smaller flags that you stick in the grass..just of a palmetto moon though, since we can't agree on a football team. :)

  7. I've got a small little front porch that's lacking a little pizzazz. A fab front door color is definitely on my to-do list! Can't wait to see your coral door. :)

  9. Gorgeous inspiration photos! That first one is fabulous. I love urns on either side of the door, an interesting knocker, and great overhead or side lights.

  10. Love these! I put out big black urns with seasonal plantings and would like to add a boxwood wreath and an American flag to a future home porch. Some lanterns and ferns would be nice too!

  12. Our taste is so similar! I have a black front door (the coral sounds amazing, but wouldn't go with our bluish-grey house color) with a brass lions head door knocker. It has a nice patina now that I have had it more than 10 years! We have brass house numbers on the front door as well as a brass kick plate. I currently have black urns flanking the front door with a rubber scroll black door mat from the Smith & Hawken collection for Target. Love the natural monogram mat, too! We have a black, lantern-style lights on either side of the door. I am loving the blue & white umbrella stand! May have to add that to our front porch! I have quite a collection of blue & white porcelain inside the house! And yes...we fly an American flag. All. Year. Long. LOVE your new house and can't wait to see what else is in store! Btw...the links to the lantern, blue & white umbrella stand and lions head are invalid :(. Can you try and re-post? May need to add those Chippendale planters, too! What a steal from Target! ;-)

  18. Not a flag girl but my front porch is similar to what you have described. I have my front door painted in high-gloss black with brass hardware and a brass kick plate. On either side I have black urns with amazing faux boxwood topiaries that look perfect all of the time with a large K coir mat from Frontgate. Love it bc its classic!

  22. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on renovations to give your front porch a very warm and inviting ambiance. It's quaint in the simplest way possible. All you have to do is to pick the right color and add some lovely adornments that will give the area a splendid impression.
